Introduction

iRobot Corporation is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team. This role supports product teams involved in the development, testing, and sustainment of robotic systems. The successful candidate will provide hands-on technical support in areas such as customer returns analysis, system-level testing, prototype assembly, and rework activities. Working in our Bedford, Massachusetts facilities, the Senior Electrical Engineering Technician will operate under limited supervision, interpreting drawings, schematics, and verbal directions. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and demonstrates exceptional multitasking and organizational skills.

What You Will Do:

  • Diagnose and triage high-priority customer returns, identifying root causes and preparing summary reports.
  • Support system-level testing of robotics products to ensure performance, functionality, and reliability.
  • Coordinate with the user test group to manage robot distribution, ensuring proper tracking and documentation.
  • Interpret engineering drawings/schematics/work instructions to complete assembly, rework, and testing tasks.
  • Perform soldering, rework of printed circuit board assemblies and build cable assembly prototypes.
  • Familiarity of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, and power supplies.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and collaborate with various internal customers.

To Be Successful You Will Have:

  • Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering and minimum 4–5 years of related experience or 10 years of related experience in a fast-paced engineering development environment in lieu of the associate degree.
  • Good writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity of soldering techniques for fine pitched surface mount devices.
  • Maintain an organized lab environment, including workstations, soldering tools, and component inventory.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
