Introduction
The Accounting Manager will report to the Sr Manager Accounting and will be based in Madrid or London with exposure to the corporate headquarters accounting organization in the United States as well as to the EMEA regional teams. He/she will be part of a high performing team and will be expected to lead, take ownership of his/her areas of responsibility, and ensure accurate and timely completion of company reporting requirements.This will be a 12 month fixed term employment. Can be based in London, UK or Madrid, Spain
What You Will Do:
- Managing the account Receivable function for UK and EMEA regions:
- Manage daily activities of a team of AR Specialists (currently three).
- Ensure deadlines and priorities are understood and met.
- Ensure the team works efficiently with all available tools and understands the company policies as well as regional markets and customer specifics.
- Ensure the team is liaising with the regional teams, understands priorities and maintains an excellent service level
- Ensure that system-generated and manual invoices / credit memos are issued accurately and sent to customers in a timely manner via the appropriate channel (EDI, email, portal…)
- Ensure that the team liaises with customers, receives remittance advices, applies cash on a timely manner and as per the customer’s advice. Ensure the team books deductions and liaises with the relevant stakeholders to get them resolved.
- Ensure that customer accounts are reconciled, and AR aging reports are maintained as per company policy, set clear targets to the team.
- Motivate, coach, and develop the team during weekly catch-up sessions and periodic reviews
- Responsible for monthly reconciliation of revenue and related allowance accruals for EMEA retail organizations
- Record monthly provisions for revenue allowances. Allowances include promotional sell-through support, contractual discounts, returns, compliance charges and marketing support
- Analyze deductions received and ensure correct coding to reserve accounts
- Review RMA requests and ensure they are properly recorded in revenue
- Prepare journal entries for cutoff and deferral of revenue
- Reconcile consignment sales with customer statements
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations for accounts receivable and revenue reserves
- Fluctuation analyses for changes in revenue-related accounts
To Be Successful You Will Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, ACCA or similar qualification preferred
- Prior experience in public accounting or in a similar accounting role
- Experience with Oracle or similar ERP system and strong Excel skills
- Experience managing and developing a team
- Attention to detail as well as analytical and problem-solving skills
- Desire for continued career progression
- Highly effective communication skills, both oral and written
- Working knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley desirable
- French or Spanish language skills preferred
